Well, today has been pretty quite. I’ve been working on the new template (nothing uploaded yet, so you can’t see any of the changes just yet) and it’s coming along quite nicely. I’m taking a minimalistic approach to the design and hopefully that’ll make things easier to navigate around here and allow me to focus more on content than on flashy graphics. Not that I focus on flashy graphics now, but I occasionally find myself worrying that I need more flashy graphics. This should alleviate that worry.

As far as the game goes, color keying with OpenGL is a pain in the ass. I can’t seem to get it working even though I’m doing it right and I know I am. More testing is needed and I’m about to dive in and test the hell out of the current code. If I can’t figure it out I’ll just rip the whole section out and see if I notice any stupid mistakes as I rewrite it.

Now for the links

  • Nuklear Power has yet another golden comic with edgy humor that will make you uncomfortable as you giggle at the hilarious antics of Black Mage and Thief.
  • Steve Pavlina updates with an interesting post about channeling and desire. Channeling is definitely a little too new-agey for me, but as Steve said, call it what you want, but give it a shot before you discount it.
  • Jay Bamson has a great post about how the standard “it’s magic” excuse for the inexplicable is a cop-out and should be avoided.
  • GameProducer.net provides a fantastic look at the age-old saying “85 percent of all new companies fail within the first year.” If you’re running your own business or considering doing so, read this for the real scoop on the success of new businesses.

And that’s all for today folks.
